How to add an AOE puppy to your family.
We are hobby breeders, not a pet store. We regularly donate puppies to be trained as service dogs through not for profit organizations and we show our dogs.
We have a limited number of litters a year that we spend countless weeks, months and sometimes years researching pedigrees and planning for each puppy we produce.
Our puppies are here because we make a choice and we are responsible to make sure each and every one of them are placed in the best homes possible.

The process? Yes, it is a process.
We always tell people, who want to add a puppy to their family...
Don't look for a puppy, look for a responsible, ethical breeder.

First contactWe want to know about you. We want to know what you are looking for, your preferences...if you have any. What you plan to do with the puppy. Will this be a family companion? Will the pup be trained for service work? Do you plan on "Showing" the pup in a conformation ring? Will you and your new pup be hunting buddies? Be as specific as you can as well as flexible. Be honest, open to the process, be kind and respectful.
Do not text message us as a 1st contact, it will not be answered. AOE Puppy QuestionnaireAll prospective puppy homes are required to complete an AOE questionnaire. This give us some insight into you and your life style so we can work with you and match you with the best fit of temperament, personality, and activity level in a puppy. We also require vet reference, from either your current or past vet and a telephone interview before accepting a deposit or placing you on our reservation list.
Pricing and RegistrationsOur pricing is very comparable for our area of the country, averaging $1800. per puppy for AKC Limited registration only.
An AKC Limited registration means no offspring from the puppy can be registered or in layman's terms we do not sell breeding rights to our puppies. All puppies leave us on a limited registration, period. Deposits and Waiting listsOnce we approve you for an AOE puppy we will require a $300. non refundable deposit to be placed on our waiting list. We only accept a limited number of reservations per litter. Most of our litters are reserved before they are born. We can not guarentee specific sex or colors for any puppies before litters are born and evaluated at 7 - 8 weeks old.

Spay/NeuterAll AOE puppies are sold on a spay/neuter contract. This means we require our pups not be altered before 18 months of age.
We know and understand lots of veterinarians will spay or neuter a puppy as young as 8 weeks of age and lots of people believe it is horrible to have an intact animal but research shows early spay or neuter is not in the puppy's best long term health interest. We will be glad to share educational material with you and spend hours discussing this with you if you like. But what all boils down to is we can not warranty an altered pup and early spay or neuter of any AOE pup will void your warranty with us. Lifetime Breeder SupportFor the life of your puppy we will be here for you. We will be here to help you, to guide you. Sometimes we can recommend veterinarians, trainers, products, services, supplements or save you an unnecessary vet visit with some good old fashioned advice or let you know when something is more serious and a vet visit is required. We will be a phone call or an email away if you need us.
Lifetime Take Back PolicyWe love each and every puppy we bring into the world and feel a deep, loving bond with them. We do our best to only place our puppies in committed, loving homes.
As responsible breeders, we understand sometimes their are circumstances beyond our control. A family can be faced with the hard choice and can no longer keep their beloved puppy. We would be devastated if any puppy we produced was surrendered to a shelter therefore we will take back any puppy we produce and do our best to place them in another appropriate, loving home. When we say we are here for the lifetime of our puppies, we mean it so much that we add this clause in our contracts. |
